LEGO talks about the relationship with Nintendo and the development of this new toy, ensuring that they wait for the opportunity to work more licenses.
This week Nintendo and LEGO surprised us with the announcement of LEGO Super Mario, a new interactive toy resulting from collaboration between both companies, always with the intention of innovating. Recently Jonathan Bennink, head of digital design at LEGO has spoken about the product, assuring that they hope to be able to work with more licenses from the Kyoto company.
The beginning of a long relationship
Bennink claims that they've been working on LEGO Super Mario for four years, although conversations with Nintendo started five years ago, just a year before production began. In the interview, Bennink emphatically says that they have not been working with Nintendo for four years "to launch just a wave of products", which unequivocally implies that LEGO Super Mario is only the beginning, or at least that is the company's intention Danish.
"We hope to have a long and fruitful relationship with Nintendo and their IPs, and we are really looking forward to working with them in the long term," said Bennink. "They have a lot of exciting IPs that we might or might not work with," which he says includes more levels for LEGO Super Mario in the future, though he didn't want to or couldn't specify.
While the product launch date is set, which should take place throughout this year, both companies spoke about LEGO Super Mario at the time of the announcement. "We are very excited to bring Mario into the physical world through this interactive and social game," said Julia Goldin, head of marketing for LEGO. “With this experience we will help millions of children who love Mario to relate and play in a completely new way, in which they will control creation and play games with their favorite character. Thanks to the incorporation of the latest digital technology, LEGO Super Mario is a highly social, interactive and collaborative game. ”
