LOW-FI – Cyberpunk RPG announced for PS5 VR

Playfront

Developer Iris VR has announced their new cyberpunk RPG LOW-FI, which apparently only appears for PlayStation VR on PS5. This is interesting because PlayStation VR was actually designed for the PS4 and no new headset has been announced specifically for the PS5.

So far, Sony has only said that PlayStation VR also works with the PlayStation 5. Developers can obviously make a difference here whether the title is also compatible for PS4 or only published for PS5, as it may require more computing power. In that case it will be interesting to see what will be possible with the current VR headset on the PS5. Already between the base PS4 and the PS4 Pro there are sometimes considerable differences in the performance of VR games.

About LOW-FI

The game itself says that players are called “low-fi”, the street name for those who cannot merge with a platform – an ubiquitous virtual reality simulation in which the majority of the population now lives their lives. As a policeman, you were transferred to a particularly criminal part of city block 303, the remarkable residents of which represent other low-fi systems in their jurisdiction, while other artificial life forms of human intelligence (or lower) that are among you, citizens according to the AI singularity are.

LOW-Fi promises a new kind of experience that was specially developed for VR. It’s more like a holodeck program than a traditional game. The huge open world has a lot to offer, but it’s up to you as a player what you want to do. In front of you is a completely non-linear world where you can patrol the sky, hand out tickets, hang out in the arcade and play games or try your luck in the casino. How you earn and spend your credits is entirely up to you.

There are tons of upgrades to buy, from weapon upgrades to toys for your companions. The goal of the developer is that you roam the world and have as much fun as you want. You prepare the stage for that, but the story is in your hands.

LOW-FI is expected to appear in 2020.
