Hangar 13 has announced that Mafia: Definitive Edition will have a Classic difficulty mode to bring the playable essence of the original video game to this remake-flavored remastering. An experience and difficulty adapted to each type of player
Likewise, the title will have as a base a new difficulty curve based on an experience that they call more modernized; from a system of choice of difficulty to other specific characteristics such as aids in the task of aiming, driving vehicles or the insight of the police when it comes to identifying ourselves.

“Looking at the original game with today’s eyes, it is incredibly complicated,” Hangar 13 Senior Systems Designer Prakash Choraria said in the statement. “With the Classic difficulty mode, we wanted to present a challenge, and at the same time soften some pitfalls that could be frustrating. Taking the Fair Play mission race as an example, the point of the difficulty settings for Mafia: Ultimate Edition was to make it a bit easier than the original, as many players would get stuck and couldn’t beat it. In Classic mode, the race will continue to be quite difficult, but you can win with patience and practice, ”he adds.
They emphasize, in turn, that in Classic mode driving will be more complicated, while in Normal it will be easier to go unnoticed by the police in situations such as when we collide with a vehicle, we skip a red light … The same for the aggressiveness of the enemies in close combat, dealing more damage and being more resistant in this classic mode. “However, the damage you receive in a fight will be more difficult to heal, since in the Classic difficulty mode the medicine cabinets recover less health, and this can only be automatically regenerated up to 20%”, they argue.
Mafia: Definitive Edition will be available on September 25 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Those who have purchased or are going to get Mafia Trilogy will receive their digital copy of Mafia: Definitive Edition that same day.
