Brundle explained to viewers that the practice of speculating on driver relocations is a familiar rhythm in F1, where personnel from four purse‑winning squads—Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren, and Red Bull—always keep tabs on each other’s rosters.
Despite holding a Red Bull contract through 2028, Verstappen has been linked with possible departures to McLaren and Mercedes, and the Dutchman has even hinted that changing regulations could prompt a retirement if the racing conditions no longer appeal to him.
Brundle critiqued Red Bull’s defensive moves, calling them a “torquing” effort against his own team, yet he acknowledged that the small world of constructors, each operating within the same concrete lane week later, makes such speculation inevitable.
