Marvel’s Avengers: This will be the skills of Captain America

A game developer argues the motives behind this controversial decision, which has not pleased the active user community.

Marvel’s Avengers has implemented changes to its system for obtaining experience and leveling up, a decision that has surprised the community due to the discreet state of form that the title currently experiences in its online mode. Now, a Crystal Dynamics worker has offered his point of view on Reddit and has tried to explain the reasons behind this decision.

“We want to offer more clarity and details about the recently announced change in obtaining XP: we did not change the XP system to increase the grind routine by mere grind”, begins by saying the worker, with verified user and on behalf of Marvel’s Avengers in the official subreddit of the video game. “Our initial blog was not clear enough to convince you of what we are doing and why,” he acknowledges, and assumes that some confusion has been generated.

Marvel’s Avengers is still looking for a way to dazzle its players

According to it says, at present the users can increase until two or three levels in a same mission; about ten or twenty minutes. This causes them to immediately receive more experience points than they consider conducive to getting used to the level of the next mission. In other words, they previously believed that more experience was obtained than necessary for the player to get used to that difficulty curve, which precipitated abrupt jumps in the process of adaptation to each challenge.

“We want people to level up. In fact, we want to see more people level up with more characters, as playing through the full Avengers roster should be the most fun you can do, but we don’t want the experience of leveling up to be too overwhelming or diminish the exploring each new skill gained ”, he adds. So by smoothing out that level-up curve, players will take longer to reach the maximum level and will experience more of the changes and novelties that occur along the way. They estimate between 3 and 5 hours in total with each character.

Marvel’s Avengers is available on PS4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC; The game is scheduled to arrive on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S with major technical improvements on March 18. Those who have the game on previous Sony and Microsoft consoles will be able to update for free.
