Marvel’s Avengers registers fewer than 1,000 PC players a month after leaving

Marvel’s Avengers: This will be the skills of Captain America

The Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix video game falls to numbers that sometimes make it difficult to match players in multiplayer games.

After just a month since the release of Marvel’s Avengers, the Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics video game is currently averaging between 1,000 and 2,000 players per day on PC; with moments below a thousand concurrent users. The new multiplayer title with a looter design from the North American company has not finished starting and is far from both its initial numbers and those of its competitors.

As Forbes reports, the game is going through a scenario almost identical to that of Bioware’s Anthem, just a year ago, when the installed base of daily players was so low that there were problems even matching games in online multiplayer. In the Steam Chartz portal, which is in charge of monitoring statistical data of the video games available on the Valve portal, we see that the peak of players reached 28,145, but that was the weekend of the title’s launch.

Marvel’s Avengers, a far cry from titles like Destiny 2 and Warframe

From then on, downhill and, for the moment, with no signs of improvement in the short term. In fact, last Wednesday, October 7, there were strips with only 972 concurrent active users in the version of Marvel’s Avengers on Steam. As we see in the attached screenshot, we have compared the new of The Avengers with the veteran Destiny 2, an absolute reference in the genre and with several reinventions on its way. The blue line corresponds to the latter.

Bungie’s work is capable of agglomerating between 30,000 and more than 50,000 players per day; with the addition that there is still room for improvement as soon as Destiny 2: Beyond the Light launches this November. It is also far from the numbers of Warframe, which with five years behind it (and without a great editor behind it) adds more than 35,000 daily players.

Faced with this scenario, Scot Amos, from Crystal Dynamics, has written an extensive statement to Kotaku where he says he is hopeful that the PC gaming community can return to the game in the future; as soon as the DLC (Hawkeye, Spider-Man…) reach the title for free.

Marvel’s Avengers is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC; at the end of the year it will have its own version on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at no additional cost for current generation buyers.
