Marvel’s Spider-Man | PS5 vs PS4 graphic comparison: ray tracing and more improvements

The original remastered game starring Peter Parker looks much better technically than it did on PlayStation 4. Head to head in a video.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered is one of the PS5-exclusive video games at launch. Along with Demon’s Souls, there is no alternative: only on PlayStation 5. That therefore suggests a special use of the characteristics of the new generation of Sony both in hardware and in DualSense and technologies such as Ray Tracing. A video has brought the original version of Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4 face to face with this ambitious remastering from Insomniac Games.

As we see in this video published by IGN colleagues, it should be said firstly that the materials used in the comparison face the PS4 Pro version (2560 × 1440 and 30 FPS) with the remastered one on PS5, which are a different game , capable of running in two modes: one in dynamic 4K resolution at 60 FPS and another in native 4K resolution at 30 FPS with Ray Tracing enabled.

Spider-Man on PS5: Ray Tracing, graphical improvements, reduced loading times …

One of the reasons why it is not an improved port but a remastering comes from the design plan, both artistic and in the modeling of the characters, drawing distance, number of pedestrians and simultaneous vehicles on screen, textures with more graphic quality … In addition, it must be taken into account that in one of the variants of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered it offers Ray Tracing, ray tracing in real time so that both crystals and puddles can reflect the image that impacts directly on them with a very realistic result. No less important is the hero change, Peter Parker, whose animations have also been improved.

Finally, a quality-of-life aspect that will satisfy PlayStation 5 users: near-instantaneous load times and spatial 3D audio on compatible headphones.

To get Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered, you need to buy the Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition version or buy Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales in its simple edition for PS4 / PS5 and pay an additional 20 euros. The remastering includes the 3 DLCs of ‘The City That Never Sleeps’ and will allow importing the saved game of the original game soon.
