McLaren has launched a one‑off Google Gemini Formula 1 livery for its home event at the British Grand Prix.
Colour scheme and partnership details
The Woking outfit’s Silverstone car will sport an almost entirely chrome finish, a visual nod to the team’s longstanding alliance with Google that began in 2022.
Google Gemini, positioned under the same name of the partnership, reflects a shared focus on technology that can unlock new ways to innovate and push performance, both on the track and beyond.
Heritage reverence on the circuit
The livery draws from the iconic McLaren M2B, the team’s 1966 Monaco debut, which the club recently commemorated with its 1,000th Grand Prix. In that celebration, Gustav‑test driver Mika Hakkinen steered the historic car around the Monaco street circuit.
Chief marketing officer Louise McEwen praised the design: “Our Silverstone livery is a celebration of where we began and everything we have built since.” She added that the M2B “represents the start of a journey defined by relentless innovation and a belief in possibility, and this design brings that spirit to life.”
Fan engagement and activation
McLaren and Gemini will host a joint activation in East London’s Truman Brewery on Thursday, giving supporters a chance to examine the livery up close and explore its tech‑inspired features.
Marvin Chow, Google’s vice president of consumer and AI marketing, highlighted the partnership: “From sparking creative ideas with the Gemini app to securely turning complex datasets into real‑time trackside intelligence with Gemini Enterprise, McLaren is showing what it means to harness the power of AI.”
With Lando Norris’s emotional victory last year’s British Grand Prix, McLaren entered the weekend as the second team to unveil a one‑off livery, following Williams’ own. The collaboration signals the team’s ambition to merge heritage and cutting‑edge AI, both on and off the arena, as the championship pushes onward.
