MLB: The Show games will no longer be exclusive to Sony

The company will continue to develop them through San Diego Studio, but after 2021, baseball video games will also be released on other platforms.

Baseball games will be multiplatform starting in 2021. This has been announced by Major League Baseball (MLB), the players' association and Sony itself, responsible for all the adaptations that have been going on for more than twenty years. Interestingly, this does not mean that the Japanese company will stop developing them and both she and the American league have confirmed that they are extending their contract to create and distribute more MLB: The Show titles over the next few years. The future MLB 21: The Show will once again have San Diego Studio behind, but it will have versions for Nintendo and Microsoft consoles, which have echoed the news and shared and celebrated the decision on their networks.

Sony has been in charge of the MLB franchise since the legendary MLB '98 that came out in 1997 for the original PlayStation. It accumulates more than two decades of deliveries behind it, with about twenty-five games in the series for up to five different platforms (its three desktop consoles, PSP and PlayStation Vita). The next season's title, scheduled for March 17, 2020, will be the last to be exclusive to PlayStation and will commemorate the 15 years that have passed since the series was renamed MLB: The Show. From 2021, baseball will be released in the rest of consoles and systems. A pleasant news given the quality of the product, which for example in the case of MLB 19: The Show, took an 8.8 in the FreeGameTips Reviews.

FF VII Remake will not be either

It is not the only exclusive that comes to an end this week for Sony. The Final Fantasy VII remake has also been confirmed as temporary exclusive and Square Enix has leaked (unintentionally?) That as of March 3, 2021, it will be available on other platforms, such as Xbox One and PC.
