The ninth installment of the saga is withdrawn from sale on Steam "at the request of the publisher." The reasons and the date of his return to the platform are unknown.

Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition is suddenly removed from Steam. The ninth installment of the saga says goodbye to the Valve platform, although all those who have previously acquired it will be able to continue enjoying it from their library.

According to its profile, the withdrawal has been made "at the request of the publisher", in this case Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment. The reasons behind its removal are unknown, although this may be due to a mere licensing issue.

Inside the downloadable content package we could find Freddy Krueger, whose rights have been in Wes Craven Estate since 2019. However, content remains available for purchase on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store. It only remains to wait for the company to pronounce itself in the next days or weeks.

Along with the appearance of Freddy, the Komplete Edition included the rest of the additional characters: Rain, Skarlet and Kenshi. In aesthetics, the wardrobe was extended with 15 classic skins from the franchise and another three "Klassic Fatalities" for characters such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile.

It is not an isolated case

The term of the use of the rights derived from the licenses that appear in a video game is more common than we think. This fact is especially suffered by driving titles, whose manufacturers give their image to appear in the game for a certain period of time. When finished, on many occasions the complete withdrawal of the product was decided, as happened with the first two installments of the Forza Horizon brand.

Despite the fact that driving has something more complicated to replace licenses, other titles, especially those that have to do with music, have it easier. There have been few occasions when Grand Theft Auto IV has been withdrawn from sale. Some real songs were removed in pursuit of new ones. A mere recycling company to fill the void left and to continue enjoying what really matters: the video game.
