Marc Marquez topped the Friday practice for the German Grand Prix with a 1m19.394s lap, leaving the factory Ducati 70 centimetres per minute ahead of the Trackhouse Aprilia of Raul Fernandez.
The session opened with Marco Bezzecchi lighting up the timesheets, out‑pacing Fernandez in FP1 by more than a tenth and then setting a 1m20.646s lap to stay a hair ahead of the two Ducatis. His pace remained unchallenged until the session’s halfway mark, when Bezzecchi extended the margin by almost another tenth. A later sprint from VR46’s Fabio Di Giannantonio pushed the best mark to 1m20.104s, but the Garros gentleman still managed a 1m19.674s lap as he fought for the cover.
With fourteen minutes left, Alex Marquez closed the gap to Bezzecchi by one second, before Marquez burst into the lead with an unprecedented sub‑1m20s pass, finishing the session on the top‑tier with a lone margin of 0.3 seconds. Fernandez captured second on a late flying lap, while the two Gresini riders claimed third and fourth positions.
Jack Miller impressed in a fast lap to finish fifth for Pramac Yamaha, ahead of the remaining Aprilias of Ai Ogura, Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin. Pedro Acosta slipped to ninth on the factory KTM, and VR46’s Franco Morbidelli secured a direct slot into Q2 at 10th place.
Francesco Bagnaia missed the top‑ten, ending 13th beneath the KTMs of Enea Bastianini and Brad Binder. Luca Marini finished 14th in the best‑of‑Honda, while Fabio Quartararo finished 0.004 seconds behind in 15th. Joan Mir was classified 16th after an off‑the‑line late in the session.
