A fresh report says Naughty Dog is crafting a new Uncharted game headed by director Shaun Escayg, after the studio stayed silent following The Last of Us Day.
Uncharted Direction
MP1ST claims Escayg will lead the upcoming title, marking a return for the veteran after his stint as lead cinematic animator on The Last of Us and the Uncharted series.
Escayg, who creatively directed the Expansion Uncharted: The Lost Legacy featuring Chloe and Nadine, also spent time as creative director of Marvel’s Avengers with Crystal Dynamics in 2018.
Casting Possibilities
Sources say the new game will include Nathan Drake in “some form”, though it is unclear whether he will be the lead, a supporting figure, or only a cameo appearance.
Fans have speculated that Cassie Drake, the daughter shown in the final moments of Uncharted 4, might serve as the protagonist, given the storyline’s recent developments.
Alternatively, the narrative could shift focus to Sam Drake or Victor “Sully” Sullivan, allies who formed a partnership after the fourth entry.
Release Plans
The studio plans to concentrate on the Uncharted project after the forthcoming release of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, intending to follow up with The Last of Us Part 3 once the new franchise is complete.
Intergalactic is set for a 2027 unveiling, indicating that the Uncharted initiative may launch several years later.
Developer Background
Escayg’s involvement with both Naughty Dog’s cinematic presentations and the Lost Legacy expansion situates him as a key creative force for the series’ future.
His experience at Crystal Dynamics, coupled with his track record on high-profile titles, adds credibility to the studio’s confidence in spawning a fresh mainline entry.
Although the exact narrative focus remains undisclosed, the combination of senior staff talent and planned release schedule primes the Uncharted franchise for a significant expansion.
