The North American study opens job vacancies for a project that lasts over time, with rewards for playing, cosmetic items and more.

Naughty Dog, studio responsible for The Last of Us or Uncharted at PlayStation Studios, has opened a new job vacancy where they demand an “Economy Designer” (economy designer) to help develop a multiplayer video game with live operations and a system of progression.

The offer, advanced by GameSpot, reflects the details that the nominee must comply with and wields some aspects of that project without announcing the Californian team, which are mainly the following: “Design, implement and fine-tune the game economy and systems player progression ”.

A long-lasting game, with rewards, progression system and emotes

This designer will help “create avenues for self-expression for our players, ensure strong longevity of our games, and give users great rewards to strive for.” Therefore, Naughty Dog wants the project to last in the long term, to have gestures or emotes and to include rewards for playing.

The offer has other points that should be highlighted. On the one hand, the candidate must have experience in how to interact with economy systems and how the player progression systems work; among other intangibles such as being a person capable of understanding the psychology and behavior of the players in the face of design. The chosen one will collaborate with the Live Ops team (live operations ”to“ optimize the economy and respond to the needs of the players ”.

The offer did not reveal details about a possible link with the already confirmed multiplayer mode of The Last of Us Part II; currently also in development.

This information fits in time with the recent message released days ago by Neil Druckmann, director of The Last of Us Part II and co-president of Naughty Dog, when he said that they are preparing “several interesting things.”

The Last of Us Part II is Naughty Dog’s latest project; available exclusively for PlayStation 4 since last June 2020. Considered GOTY and with dozens of awards behind it, the title will soon have a multiplayer mode. Fans wonder what will come next. The closest, apparently, is the television series in production with HBO with Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann at the helm.
