Netflix will produce a series of One Piece live-action, with real actors

The North American giant is working on a series based on Eiichiro Oda's manganime, this time adapted with flesh and blood actors.

Netflix is working on a series with real actors based on One Piece. Eiichiro Oda's popular manganime, serialized since 1997 on the pages of the Weekly Shonen Jump of the Japanese publisher Shueisha, will be adapted to a live-action series with at least 10 confirmed episodes.

Both parties have confirmed it. Both the North American giant, leader in subscribers in VOD streaming portals, and the author of the work, confirm that the agreement is official and that One Piece will return to the small screen in a similar way to what other entertainment franchises have done like The Witcher, Castlevania and Saint Seiya. This time it will not be the CGI or the traditional animation who give color and shape to the Mugiwara band, but rather flesh and blood actors.

10 confirmed episodes; Tomorrow Studios takes care

It is not the first time that Netflix makes such a move, however. In the past, Death Note (also from the Shonen Jump) had a film with real actors; or Cowboy Bebop, with a live action series currently under development, the latter from Sunrise and Visual Bandai.

There are some things already confirmed for this One Piece series. The first is that Netflix has relied again on Tomorrow Studios, the same responsible study as the new Cowboy Bebop series. Shueisha will actively participate in the production and supervision of the contents, while Eiichiro Oda will participate in executive production. The maximum person in charge will be Steven Maeda, known for his work of supervision in production tasks for The X-Files, CSI: Miami and Lost.

One piece
One Piece is the best-selling manga of all time with more than 450 million units.

The series with real actors of One Piece on Netflix has no approximate release date, nor the cast of professionals that will embody the protagonists or the plot that will tell that first season, if there is more than one.

The next date of the video game fans with One Piece is called One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, which aims to become the most ambitious installment of the musou saga developed by Koei Tecmo with Omega Force.
