Netflix's The Witcher will delve into two of his villains during Season 2

The showrunner for the series is excited about the future of the series, which halted production due to the coronavirus.

The coronavirus may have forced the shooting of The Witcher to stop, but that doesn't mean no information is provided about the series. Before the pandemic, Netflix confirmed new additions for the second season, see Kim Bodnia as Vesmir or Kristofer Hivyu, known for his role as Tormund in Game of Thrones. Now, Lauren S. Hissrich, showrunner of the series, has shared on Twitter an update that refers to the villains of the series.

In the first season of the fiction we met the sorceress Fringilla and Cahir, both allies under the Nilfgaard umbrella. However, one of the objectives of the new season is to delve into these characters, as Hissrich herself has assured: "I am eager to delve into Cahir and Fringilla in Season 2 … who they are, why Nilfgaard is so important to them and where they are going. It is one of my favorite parts of the new season. ”

The new season, in 2021

Filming for The Witcher started earlier this year, though production stopped when COVID-19 began to spread. In fact, actor Kristofer Hivyu tested positive for the coronavirus. The series, which premiered in late 2019, will not be returning to Netflix in the near future. At the moment there is no specific date, but the platform has already confirmed that the premiere window has not been established for this year, but for 2021.

Anyway, all those who are wanting to receive their ration from The Witcher will not have to wait that long, since the team led by Lauren S. Hissrich works on an anime film starring Vesemir, Geralt of Rivia's mentor. It will be set years before the story that is told in the series, since we will live the youth of Vesemir in the sorcerers' guild.
