NetherRealm Studios is looking for people for the Mortal Kombat and Injustice on PS5 and Xbox Series X

The studio publishes several job offers in which it already thinks about the new generation of consoles and the next installments of Mortal Kombat and Injustice.

A job offer on the Warner Bros. Games website has confirmed that NetherRealm Studios is already working on the new generation of consoles and that, at a minimum, it has begun to arm itself for the new installments of Mortal Kombat and Injustice. The developer is looking for a chief of software engineering to help them establish the engine and graphic aspect that both sagas will use in PS5 and Xbox Series X. The offer explains that the objective of the position is “to develop graphic technology for PS5 and Xbox Series X Graphics that promote the appearance of the Mortal Kombat and Injustice franchises in the new generation of consoles “. The position encompasses all kinds of responsibilities, such as “design, rendering and optimization of the graphics engine as well as its implementation in new technologies”.

Obviously it seems a very early stage of pre-production if they are still looking for a similar position, but of course the news will cheer fans of the genre. Despite the good grades and sales of Injustice 2, the saga seemed to be at a standstill after that installment, which has already passed three years (it was launched in 2017). His appearance in the job offer confirms that it is still in the studio’s mind and that it will most likely have continuity in the future. Most recent is the latest chapter of its older sister, as Mortal Kombat 11 went on sale in 2019 and still grabs all kinds of headlines and news thanks to the Aftermath expansion and the new fighters it includes. Perhaps NetherRealm’s goal with her is to repeat the time between Motal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11, which take four years. How does a Mortal Kombat 12 sound in 2023, 2024?

We remind you that the first Injustice: Gods Among Us is available for free in the Xbox store, and that even though it is from 2013 and Xbox 360, the game is backward compatible with Xbox One, so you can download it and use it in any of the two consoles.
