New Hampshire Motor Speedway has announced that its September 25‑26 weekend will return for the 2027 NASCAR season, bringing back the Cup and Craftsman Truck Series to the track.
“We are thrilled to return to September and The Chase next year,” said David McGrath, Executive Vice‑President and General Manager of NHMS.
In 1993 the venue joined the Cup schedule and hosted play‑off races for 13 years under the nickname “The Magic Mile.” That era ended after 2017, after which the track moved between summer dates in July, August and June.
Last year the venue re‑appeared briefly in the Cup playoffs, only to be shifted back to a summertime slot for 2026.
Reclaiming the September Slot
The 2027 announcement restores NHMS to its traditional September date, positioning it as the third race in the ten‑race Chase for the Cup Series championship and the opening event for the Truck Series Chase.
2027 Cup Schedule and Other Announcements
A complete 2027 Cup schedule is set to be released soon, with NHMS joining several tracks that have confirmed dates. Meanwhile, Iowa Speedway announced that it will host the Fourth‑of‑July race weekend for 2027.
