This year you will hear something new about the NieR franchise, as the producer of NieR: Automata promises today.
The franchise is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, which is taken as an opportunity to present a new game. The current issue of the Japanese Famitsu states:
“We're celebrating this event and an unannounced title.”
Whether this is a new NieR game can currently only be guessed. The fact that license holder Square Enix recently renewed brand protection for NieR may have something to do with it.
In addition to a brand new game, a remake or remaster would of course also be conceivable, which would be reissued.
