The news around you is counted by dropper. During the past TGS we knew its release date on PS4, Xbox One and PC. It will be next April 22 when we receive it on the console, while the computer edition will be delayed two days: on the 24th of the same month. Along with the standard edition, a collector’s edition is available from the Square Enix store.
We know that Yoko Taro has revised the gameplay to accommodate current times. For this, the team has taken as a reference the work of Platinum Games in NieR: Automata to make them more similar. More people will be added to make the title “feel new”, in addition to the re-recording of the Japanese dub by the same actors who brought the original to life.
Development is carried out by Toylogic, who worked as a supporting studio on projects like The Evil Within and Kid Icarus Uprising. Platinum Games personalities such as Takahisa Taura, senior game designer at Automata, are also immersed in the project. In the news section, the appearance of unpublished songs by the composer Keiichi Okabe is expected.
Yosuke Saito, renowned producer and part of the project management at Square Enix, explained that they want to make it “enjoyable for those who have played the original.” It has not currently transpired if the versions of PS5 and Xbox Series X | S will take advantage of the new generation hardware, or if on the contrary it will run solely via compatibility.
