Nintendo Announces Paper Mario: The Origami King for Nintendo Switch; official trailer

The new installment of the saga keeps the humor, but adds a completely new combat system.

The Mushroom Kingdom goes through the cellulose filter again. Nintendo has unveiled by surprise the release of Paper Mario: The Origami King, a completely new project coming out on July 17 on Nintendo Switch. The most famous video game plumber (or ex-plumber, depending on how you look at it) will join Peach and Luigi in a humorous adventure. As the title suggests, the art of Japanese origami, origami, will be very present in the game. In addition, those in Kyoto have confirmed that the first buyers will be able to download the title in advance from today on the Nintendo eShop.

Something strange happens. Princess Peach has been doing weird things for a while and Mario is with the fly behind his ear. One day, he enters the royal castle and the princess activates a mechanism that makes the mustachioed fall through a hole. From that moment, a new adventure full of dangers will begin. King Olly, self-proclaimed sovereign of the Origimi Kingdom, has plotted his evil plans in order to take over the world. This Machiavellian sovereign has wrapped Peach Castle in colorful streamers and moved him to a lost mountain. Even Bowser's vassals have become his new paper minions.

Friends, enemies and new combat system

In any case, King Olly will do wrong if he underestimates Mario, since he has all the necessary skills to defeat the monarch. The folding arms, for example, allow you to interact with the environment and find new areas, as well as solve puzzles. "Along the way, players will also be able to join forces with different allies: some are old acquaintances, but others are completely new, such as the kind Olivia, who turns out to be King Olly's sister," reveals Nintendo in the press release. Can you imagine Bowser as an ally? Everything seems to indicate that a strange alliance is going to be forged. You know, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

The game adds a new ring combat system, which challenges players to solve puzzles, as they will have to align enemies scattered across the battlefield with the intention of causing more damage. All enemies are made of paper, but that does not mean they are not tough. Hours of mini-games and paper-based mysteries await us. How good a good paperweight could do us!
