Nintendo explains in a new video how LEGO Super Mario works

The collaboration between both companies bears fruit with a product that combines the natures that characterize LEGO and Nintendo.

It is not just any toy, nor is it a video game. LEGO Super Mario mixes the toy tradition with the advances in technology to offer a different product, which uses new features in order to transfer the universe of the plumber (or ex-plumber, depending on how you look at it) to the real world. Through a video, which you can enjoy with Spanish subtitles on these lines, those in Kyoto have explained the operation of the toy, which will be released on August 1 in the United States.

Jonathan Bennick of Nintendo has been in charge of showing the ins and outs of the product. He defines it as a very modular item, in which the assembly is still important, as in all LEGO sets. The difference is that LEGO Super Mario allows you to interact with the character in a very different way. As in video games, the hero of the Mushroom Kingdom collects coins and goes from one side of the level to the other, although in this case, it is the player who drives it with his hands.

The initial pack

As you can see in the video, Mario emits his characteristic sounds thanks to a speaker integrated in the figure, and is even capable of blinking. This happens thanks to LCD screens, positioned in the eyes, mouth and belly. According to Takashi Tezuka, producer at Nintendo, the mustachioed has always adapted to the hardware of each era, something that has allowed him to make the leap from video games to a system as novel as this. "It is very exciting to think that LEGO Mario has become a real friend to children," he says.

Starter Course, the way to start playing

The initial pack will be marketed at a recommended price of $ 59.99 in the US market, while the price in euros will be 59.99 euros. It will include seven blocks that will provide the possibility of interacting differently with the LEGO Mario figure. It should be noted that this is the only package that will come with the figure of the plumber.

LEGO Group and Nintendo have also announced new expansions, such as the Piranha Plant Power Slide Expansion Set and the Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle Expansion Set.
