Nioh 2 releases a free demo on PS4; already available for a limited time

The sequel to the Team Ninja action game is preparing for release with this demo, although it will only be available until March 1.

The demons rise again. In an era where samurai are everything, katanas whistle and heads roll. Nioh 2, sequel to the successful title of Team Ninja, will go on sale in a few weeks, but players will have the opportunity to try it in advance, as Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that the demo is now available exclusively for PlayStation 4.

The trial version can be downloaded for a very limited time in the PlayStation Store, as announced by the Japanese company in the press release. Therefore, all who wish to play must download it before March 2, since day 1 of the same month will be the last day that can be enjoyed. Nioh 2 is starring a mongrel character, half yokai (demon), half human. Set in the middle of the 16th century, this mercenary will have to destroy many infernal creatures.

A very rich mythology

"The Japanese know the figure of yokai well," says Fumihiko Yasuda, producer of Team Ninja. "We have grown up listening to legends about them and their different forms. Not all of them are bad: some are friendly or simply spirits that live on objects. We wanted to share that part of Japanese culture with the world. That is why it is something special for me."

In the demo it will be possible to experiment with the character's personalization tool, but it will also include one of the new weapons, the Switchglaive. The adventure will begin in the Intermediate, a place that starts from the Buddhist concept of transition between life and death. The player will go to Sunomata, where we will find the castle that, according to legend, was built in a single night by Hideyoshi.

The mixture between reality and mythology offers the possibility that the spirits are an intrinsic part of the fighting. Not surprisingly, enemies will be able to summon them, just like the players. This feature was not present in the first installment. However, fighting the fighting will not be a simple task, since the mastery of the Ki will be formed as an essential part of the battles. When entering the Dark Kingdom, some enemies will have the ability to reduce the players' Ki, so you have to play very carefully.

The study promises a great variety of weapons and postures: “Nioh had seven types of weapons. With alternating jaws and hatchets, players have two new types in Nioh 2, "Fumihiko explains." There is a balance between weapons so that no one is better than another. Double hatches have a long range, in addition to a length and some different combos according to the position adopted ”.

Nioh 2 will go on sale on March 13 on PlayStation 4, both in a standard version and in a deluxe version.
