Oliver Bearman says Hamilton’s comeback hinders Ferrari’s F1 glory hopes

Oliver Bearman admits Lewis Hamilton resurgence complicates Ferrari F1 dream

Oliver Bearman revealed that Lewis Hamilton’s return to Ferrari’s winning rhythm complicates his own Ferrari ambitions.

Haas stands as the launchpad

After a compelling replacement run for Carlos Sainz at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Bearman secured a full-time seat with Haas for the 2025 season. The 21‑year‑old made headlines again when he took home a fourth‑place finish at the Mexican Grand Prix, proving himself consistently faster than teammate Esteban Ocon.

Bearman emphasises that staying with Haas keeps him on a developmental trajectory. “I’m not in a huge rush, and there’s still a lot to learn,” he said, highlighting the team’s supportive environment for a driver still topping the charts.

Ferrari’s resurgence reshapes the horizon

Lewis Hamilton’s early 2026 struggles have improved dramatically. He captured his maiden win of the season at the Barcelona‑Catalunya Grand Prix, climbing back into the top‑two spot in the drivers’ standings. Bearman applauded the comeback, saying, “Seeing him on the top step was special.”

Despite the improvement, Bearman acknowledges that Hamilton’s normalised form now obscures a potential seat at Maranello. “It’s not ideal for my future, but I remain committed to Haas while keeping the goal of becoming a Ferrari driver alive.”

Bearman’s path to Maranello

Bearman states, “My goal remains to be a Ferrari driver one day. I don’t want to be waiting around for the seat to open, wasting my best years.” He sees the 2026 season as the proving ground for his future, with continuous improvement at Haas providing the foundation for a long‑term move.

As the season progresses, Bearman’s patience and performance at Haas keep the door to Ferrari’s engines ajar, lined up for a promotion when the balance between demands and opportunity tilts.
