Square Enix and People Can Fly announce a small delay for their new shooter looter and it will no longer arrive at the end of this 2020; cross play is confirmed.
Outriders, the new shooter looter from People Can Fly and Square Enix, already has a release date. This has been shared by those responsible through their official channels, confirming a small delay (should arrive at the end of this 2020) to reach stores on February 2, 2021 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5 and Xbox Series, with the Stadia version still without a definitive date, although it should not take long to reach the Google cloud platform.
Cross-play and free next-gen update
This has been communicated by Lee Singleton, director of Square Enix External Studios, ensuring that this small margin of time has served to incorporate new functions to the video game, as is the case of cross-play or cross-play between all platforms. “We needed a little more time to make sure players have the best possible experience with Outriders and we have also implemented new features such as cross-play to make the game more accessible regardless of the platform,” says the Square Enix executive. .
On the other hand, from Square Enix they have also confirmed that Outriders will offer the possibility to those players who buy the version of PS4 or Xbox One to switch to the new generation of PS5 and Xbox Series X for free, thus enjoying graphic improvements in the new consoles without spending a euro. This is confirmed by Jon Brooke, deputy head of Square Enix External Studios: “Outriders will have a free update for next-generation consoles. The best thing is that if you don’t buy a PS5 or an Xbox Series X, you won’t have to wait to play. If you buy Outriders for the present generation, we will give you the next generation for free ”, he concludes.
