Overwatch 2: Story mode will explore the lore of the saga in different ways

The Blizzard game will arrive soon for PS4, Xbox One, Pc and Nintendo Switch with the expected PvE. We know new details of the game.

One of the main novelties of Overwatch 2 is that it will have PvE mode, a story mode that will serve not only to satisfy those who were looking for a single player mode in the Blizzard phenomenon but also to deepen the lore of the saga, which has been widely spread through comics and other official forms.

Michael Chu, the main screenwriter of the video game, has revealed in a meeting with PlayStation that this campaign will be used to tell the different stories of the Overwatch universe in ways we had not seen before.

“We have always considered Overwatch as a universe in which we want to tell stories,” he begins by saying. “Overwatch as a game was the first expression of this universe, but we have been experimenting with the PvP in the annual events of the Archives, and we have verified that it is something that interests the community,” he says.

“With the history missions of Overwatch 2, we have the opportunity to take advantage of this and explore the Overwatch universe in new ways. We like to consider this story as a Story Experience. It is not exactly a single player campaign, but you can play the story together with three other players cooperatively. The players will live the story together with their friends. ”

New details of Overwatch 2 campaign mode

Only a few days ago we learned that the progression of the campaign mode and the multiplayer will work separately, so that the campaign – which is exclusive to Overwatch 2 and not shared with the original game – will be completely independent, as in other titles where online mode and single player converge but with separate progress. Also, the argument of this campaign mode will be narrated from different perspectives, as confirmed by Michael Gru himself in an interview where he deepens some aspects of the script. You can check the first details of the duration of the campaign here.

Overwatch 2 is still in development for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch, but it has no release date. The title will tell us, with the expected PvE mode, a new hero and an unprecedented class system. All players of the original title can play the sequel content in the multiplayer side: no one is left behind. The cosmetics obtained will also be transferred to Overwatch. And yes, your progress will be migrated to the sequel. Learn all we know about the sequel to the Blizzard hero shooter in this preview.
