It is not the first time that a new PlayStation VR headset has been reported, which is still a matter of debate as to whether the current version will be revised again or whether it will become a genuine successor.

In the course of a report on the production costs of the Bloomberg PS5, however, a “new PlayStation VR headset” is now reported again, which should appear after the launch of the PS5. This could actually be viewed as a PlayStation VR 2 or as an optimized version for the PS5. Unfortunately, no further details are given.

The fact that Sony is working on a significantly improved successor to PlayStation VR is shown by numerous patents in the past that revealed interesting approaches. While it is not yet certain which features will actually be used, it shows that Sony is still investing in the technology.

So far, Sony has only confirmed that they are not planning a simultaneous launch with the PS5, but also not that there will actually be a successor.
