The Pokémon Company has made official what was an open secret: the Lunar New Year event of 2020. After dropping that something related to the celebration of the Year of the Rat was going to happen, Niantic has finally materialized the forecasts in an investigation Limited with Minccino, the Pokémon Chinchilla, as the main protagonist.
Lunar New Year event in Pokémon GO: all the details
As always, let's start with the dates. The new lunar cycle will be held in Pokémon GO with appearances of red Pokémon from this Friday, February 24 at 22:00 (CEST) until Monday, February 3 at 22:00 (CEST). So, we will have more frequency of occurrences of red Pokémon in the wild, luck bonuses and the presence of species that we had not seen so far in the popular Niantic title; starting with Minccino.
Lunar New Year event in Pokémon GO: all the details
- Red Pokémon that we will see more frequently: Charmeleon, Vulpix, Parasect, Voltorb, Jynx, Magmar, Magikarp, Flareon, Slugma, Wurmple, Corphish, Kricketot and Foongus.
- If we are lucky, we will find a wild Gyarados. If we are very lucky, we may run into a coveted Gyarados variocolor / shiny red
- Some red Pokémon will appear when hatching 7 km eggs: Shuckle, Foongus and Darumaka, the Pokémon Daruma, which will debut in Pokémon GO n this opportunity.
Minccino special and limited research
Minccino, the Pokémon Chinchilla, is chosen to celebrate the Year of the Rat. Therefore, on February 2 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time we can find Minccino with the ability to evolve to Cinccino if we expose him to a Teselia Stone.
- Field research: Minccino's limited research tasks will be the necessary way to find it.
- Themed Pokémon similar to the Year of the Rat will appear more frequently: Rattata, Raticate, Pikachu, Sandshrew, Nidoran♀, Nidoran♂, Sentret, Marill, Zigzagoon, Plusle, Minun, Bidoof and Patrat.
- Minccino will appear in the 5 km eggs: Minccino will be seen more frequently when hatching 5 km eggs. Once the event is over, Minccino will continue to appear in the 5km Eggs.
- Minccino variocolor / shiny may appear if we are very lucky.
