Preseason Patch in CoD: Black Ops Cold War | Improved stability, bug fixes, and more

Treyarch publishes the preseason patch in CoD: Black Ops Cold War. Multiple issues are fixed in all game modes, including Zombies.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War gets the preseason update on December 8. The improvements bring different aspects of the game up to date for the launch of Season 1, scheduled for December 16.

The new features include stability improvements on all platforms. Ray Tracing bugs on PS5 and Xbox Series X have been fixed, along with other multiplayer-related issues. Now available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One and PC.

Stability

  • Added fixes related to unexpected crashes in ray tracing on next gen consoles.

  • Fixed an issue where Prestige levels and icons would appear incorrectly in rendezvous menus.

  • Fixed an issue where the Prestige 1 icon could appear on the Commanders rank icon in the post-match report.

UI

  • Fixed multiple issues with certain items appearing incorrectly in rendezvous menus.

  • Fixed an issue where the reward animation would sometimes appear corrupted in the post-match report.

Camouflages

  • Fixed an issue where Mastery Camouflages were not progressing correctly for some players, causing them to not be achieved.

  • Reduced the number of kills without dying from 3 to 2 for Launcher and M79 challenges.

Hotspot

  • Checkmate | Adjusted respawns for zones 1, 3, and 4; resolved an issue where the point could be captured next to a box in zone 4.

  • Garrison | Adjusted zone 1 to give a better balance of coverage on both teams; Adjusted respawns for zones 2 and 3.

  • Crossroads Strike | Adjusted respawns for all zones; moved zone 4 to the adjacent tents to promote more opportunities for the attacking team.

  • Moscow | Removed respawns near the back of the statue in zone 3.

Control

  • Moscow | Adjusted respawns for attackers to reduce travel to targets; Additional respawns for attackers added closer to the center of the map when B has been captured.

  • Miami | Adjusted respawns for attackers to reduce travel to targets.

  • Checkmate | Adjusted respawns for attackers to reduce travel to targets

Strike Team: Dirty Bomb

Gameplay

  • Reduced respawn protection time to reduce protection frequency by disinhibiting explosives for extended periods of time.

  • Fixed an issue where players could collide when deployed after a squad elimination.

  • Fixed an issue where players could land on others and die if they had waited until autodeploy.

  • Fixed an issue where players could get hooked when taking cover at some points in Alpine.

  • Fixed an issue where containers could respawn inside some items.

Casualty streaks

  • Reduced the respawn rate of Attack Helicopters, Helicopter Gunner, and VTOL Escort.

  • Fixed an issue where the cruise missile UI effects could be seen in the deployment menu.

Vehicles

  • Fixed an issue where the Hind could exit the playable space in Alpine.

HUD

  • Fixed an issue where dust and threat perception effects could appear in the overhead chamber.

Group invitations

  • Added options in customizable games within the kill streak settings, for the score reset on death and the penalty on dying from a kill streak.

Round-based modes

  • Fixed an issue where players could be kicked for inactivity when spectating in round modes.

Weapons

  • Visual effects when semi-automatic weapons recoil have been polished.

  • Hauer 77 | Fixed an issue with the animation of the Hauer 77 firing the last shot when aiming with the scope.

  • Launchers | Fixed an issue where launchers would get stuck on stationary turrets in Combined Arms.

  • Optics | Fixed an issue that could prevent thermal sights from displaying the thermal profile when inside a vehicle.

Casualty streaks

  • Supply package | The explosion will not damage teammates in Extreme; fixed an issue where the packet could go through the ceiling of Checkmate.

  • Combat bow | Fixed an issue where the Tactical Mask icon would appear incorrectly after damaging enemies with the bow.

  • Cruise missile | Fixed a bug where missile damage could not appear with a hitmarker.

  • VTOL escort | Fixed an issue that occurred in the VTOL camera when it was destroyed out of bounds.

  • Helicopter gunner | Helicopter Gunner will now follow the correct short path in Crossroads Strike instead of the wide path in Combined Arms.

Maps

  • Crossroads | Parachutes can now be activated where possible in all Crossroads modes; added a single camera curtain in 6vs6.

  • Navy | Parachutes can now be activated where possible in all Armada modes.

  • Garrison | Fixed an issue where one of the explosive barrels could never detonate in Garrison.

Field improvements

  • Trophy | It will now destroy Trophies thrown in close proximity; fixed a bug where sometimes it could not destroy missiles on the way; Fixed a bug where shooting could spawn a hitmarker for infantrymen.

  • Assault pack | It will now be destroyed if an enemy uses it.

  • Field Microphone | Fixed an issue where players could double the score if two microphones overlapped.

  • Fixed an issue where the camera could clip onto a player’s head when switching from driver to passenger while pointing a gun inside the vehicle.
