With over 100 million PS4 consoles sold on the market, Sony and the many publishers and developers have also brought a considerable number of software titles among the players.
As the Japanese confirm today, over 1,181 billion PS4 games have been sold worldwide, equivalent to 10 to 11 games per PS4 console. This number includes both games on disc in stores, as well as sales through the PlayStation Store. DLC content and extras, which are not counted as full games, are of course excluded.
Downward trend in progress
Nevertheless, there is also a clear downward trend in this area. If you sold around 31 million games this January, it was 38 million copies the previous year. However, January was not so full of blockbuster titles, which certainly plays a role somewhere.
Another reason is likely to be the upcoming launch of the PS5, for which quite a few players are now somewhat reluctant to buy new games.
In total, Sony was able to sell around 257 million games in 2019, making it one of the best-selling in the past year.
