While a lot of new information about the PS5 was expected from Sony at this year's CES, the press conference with SIE President, Jim Ryan, was primarily about the PS4 and its success.
So you could announce here that over 106 million PS4 consoles were sold worldwide, which is now more than the original PSone. Only the PS2 (158 million) has been even more successful so far. It is currently still questionable whether the PS4 will ever surpass this.
PlayStation VR milestone
There were also new figures for PlayStation Plus and PlayStation VR, the latter coming to over 5 million units sold. It is currently still uncertain whether there will be a successor here, even if there are already many indications. The premium service PlayStation Plus is used by almost 39 million users, and the PlayStation Network has a total of around 103 million active users per month.
Ryan further referred to the upcoming blockbusters of the PS4 this year, including Final Fantasy VII Remake, The Last of Us: Part II, Ghost of Tsushima and many more.
The highlight of his speech was the official unveiling of the PS5 logo.
