PS5: Demon’s Souls will use ray tracing to improve its visual effects

The video game from Sony Japan Studio and Bluepoint Games is in development for PS5, although it does not have a date. It will take advantage of the console’s tracing times.

Demon’s Souls Remake was one of the big PS5 exclusive announcements from the digital event held last Thursday. Sony showed the first lineup of third party games and PlayStation Studios that will come to the company’s new home console, many of them benefiting from techniques such as ray tracing, ray tracing accelerated by the hardware itself.

The project, co-developed between Bluepoint Games and Sony Japan Studio, will have graphic improvements as it is being re-built almost from scratch; to highlight, improvements in the effects of shadows and the mentioned ray tracing. Sony confirms that users will be able to choose between two graphics modes: one focused on graphic fidelity (thus prioritizing resolution; presumably 4K) and the other with lower resolution and a higher frame rate per second. More details about both options, standard resolution and average FPS on the screen, will be released shortly.

Thanks to ray tracing, more realistic and dynamic environments can be achieved, with a rendering capable of illuminating each texture in more detail. Likewise, the tracing of moments is especially beneficial in the sound, since it allows to gain in acoustic details. As in Xbox Series X, PS5 will have hardware accelerated ray tracing, it will not be simulated by any program. This will allow many games to take advantage of these benefits without additional efforts.

You can take a look here at a video graphic comparison of Demon’s Souls Remake with the original 2009 game for PS3, Hidetaka Miyazaki’s first big title in the Souls formula. In turn, in this article we review all the confirmed games for PS5 to date.

At least for the moment, we do not know what the release date of this new Bluepoint Games project exclusively for PS5 is.
