Despite the global crisis, Sony is sticking to the launch of the PS5 this year and around Christmas. Initially there were fears that the start might have to be postponed due to possible delivery bottlenecks.
An update of the official PS5 website continues to speak of the fact that the PS5 will appear this year, which has been supplemented by details from the recent developer conference. It still says:
"PlayStation®5 is coming – Launches holiday 2020"
A Sony PR agency had previously commented on the PS5 launch, which to the best of its knowledge has not been changed. Otherwise it says on the website:
“We started to reveal more details behind the technical and hardware components that make PlayStation 5 such an innovative and powerful platform – the ultra high-speed SSD, the built-in custom I / O system, the custom AMD GPU with ray tracing and the impressive performance of 3D audio. With these features, PS5 enables developers to maximize their creativity and build vast worlds and new gaming experiences in the games they design. ”
It is still assumed that PS5 production will not start until the middle of the year. In a less favorable scenario, Sony will probably only be able to provide fewer consoles for launch.
More details on the launch and PS5 pre-orders are expected in the coming weeks.
