Western Digital has presented its new range of products WD_Black for the new generation of consoles; compatible with PlayStation 5. The North American manufacturer specialized in hard drives has revealed its three new SSD storage solutions with high-performance technology, products at the forefront of technology that PS5 users can purchase to expand the machine’s 825 GB of internal storage .
In total, we talked about three variants within the new WD_Black range: an NVMe solid state drive (SSD) with next-generation PCIe Gen4 technology, a plug and play Gen3 x8 add-in card, and a dock. docking with Thunderbolt 3 and NVMe SSD storage.
WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD 1 TB compatible with PS5 for 266.99 euros
As explained in a statement, the WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD will have PCle Gen4 technology, prepared to offer read / write speeds of up to 7000 / 5300MB / s1 from the 1TB model. “It has been developed with the WD_ BLACK G2 controller and optimized for high-end, high-intensity gaming (not designed for NAS or server environments),” they explain. With this, loading times will be reduced on PC and will be as short as possible on PS5.
Its new cache and performance technology are presented as an option to consider for the storage expansion of the Sony console, available in capacities of 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB (speeds to be determined) starting from 139.99 euros in the first of them (without heat sink), although only the 1 TB and 2 TB will be compatible with PlayStation 5, since they are the ones that meet the read and write speed standards.
