PS5: Ubisoft indicates full backward compatibility

Playfront

Ubisoft may have revealed an important detail about the PS5 that the two new consoles will be fully backward compatible.

This emerges from the current quarterly report and subsequent investor conference, where Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, said about the coming generation:

“Almost the entire back catalog of the previous consoles is executed on these consoles. It will be something new in the industry. It will help the old generations to be on the market as large consoles in the years to come. ”

It remains to be seen whether this statement was a little unfortunate or whether one actually knows that it is fully backward compatible. It is also unclear how Sony will then do this – whether the games all run natively or via emulation.

So far, it has only been confirmed that the PS5 will be able to run PS4 games directly. However, since all previous generations have a completely different hardware architecture, it will be exciting to see how the whole thing works in the end, if it actually comes.
