The future of Quantic Dream is no longer tied to PlayStation. After the expiration of its exclusive contract, the French company will operate as an independent and multiplatform studio, despite the capital inflow from the Chinese company NetEase. The company behind Heavy Rain, Beyond: Dos Almas and Detroit: Become Human has announced the opening of a new studio in Montreal, Canada, as published by IGN.

Square Enix Montreal founder Stéphane D’Astous has been appointed general manager, while Yohan Cazaux, one of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s top design managers, will join as gameplay director, a role he will play in a Quantic Dream project yet Unannounced.

In exclusive statements to the North American media, David Cage and Guillaume Fondaumière, the two CEOs of the company, have confirmed that the objective is not for the new study to work on a project different from that of Paris. The intention is to speed up the creative process.

Together as a single study

Our goal is not to expand or accelerate cadence,” said Cage. . According to the developer, the ambition for their next project is “high” and will be released “when ready”, as they have done with “the rest of the Quantic Dream games”.

They do not see it as two studies, but as “a unified body located in two different regions”. So they will be working on “the same unannounced triple A game.” The company has structured the relationship of the two entities so that they “work as a single team”.
