Rainbow Six Siege – Plans for Year 5 & Year 6 unveiled

Ubisoft will stick to ‘Rainbow Six Siege’ for the next two years, and today’s plans for that time. Already at the weekend you could take a look at Operation Void Edge, which marks the beginning here.

The focus of the next two years is on major updates that have a direct impact on the gaming experience. This includes revisions to maps, operator and in-game events so players can always discover something new.

These fundamental revisions start with a hybrid Year 5: the first two seasons still come in the old format with 2 new operators and a revised card. The Year 6 format will then be introduced in the second half of the year. In Year 6 there will be a new operator, a revised map, a time-limited event and extensive gameplay updates, free of charge for all players, every season. Starting with Operation Void Edge, a Battle Pass will also be available for every season.

CORE GAMEPLAY CHANGES

In the future, the focus will be on the core gameplay of Rainbow Six Siege, more precisely on fundamental elements that will have a direct impact on every player. For example, an intelligent ping system is implemented to facilitate the game with another communication option in the team. This is particularly advantageous for players who cannot or do not want to use voice chat. In addition to numerous other updates, additional secondary gadgets will be added, which will be available to all operators. These are currently being tested and should be published in Year 5 and Year 6.

REVISION OF THE OPERATOR

Revisions are important changes that affect the way operators are used and how their entire gameplay is redefined. In Year 5, Tachanka will be the first operator to be completely redesigned. This is followed by other operators in the following seasons.

IN-GAME EVENTS

Year 4 was successful with Rainbow is Magic, Showdown, Doktor’s Curse and Road to SI. already show a wide range of in-game events. In both Year 5 and Year 6, as before, there will be a big ingame event every season. These events bring unique gameplay changes and provide players with a refreshing and innovative experience. Pure arcade playlists will also be added to the game. The first arcade game list, Golden Gun, will be released during Y5S1 and more are planned from Y5S3.

In addition, other changes for Year 5 and Year 6 have been released:

  • Map Ban to give players more control over which map they will play on.
  • Reputation system, a transparent system where players can receive rewards or sanctions based on their behavior in the game.
