Several users had detected that the passage of time was different from that of the console version, something that is linked to the rate of images per second.
The most recent production of Rockstar Games rode through the Wild West and came to PC, but it has not escaped the problems of the road, only that instead of outlaws and gunmen, it has found bugs and other vicissitudes. A patch hit, the company keeps trying to fix Red Dead Redemption 2 errors on PC. However, a user has experienced and discovered that some of those problems come from the hand of framerate, as GameSpot indicates.
It is the Dark Souls 2 effect, a game that worked on console at 30 fps, but when it was converted to PC it was decided to increase the image rate per second to 60 fps. As a result, the weapons were worn much faster than on the console, something that Red Dead Redemption 2 is facing as well.
A matter of weight
A user of Reddit (Jimmyoneshot) has been the one who has discovered the link between the framerate and the passage of time in the PC version. Not a few players had perceived that the day / night cycle was much faster in compatible, not to mention those who perceived that atmospheric phenomena lasted very little.
The biggest problem is that Arthur Morgan, main character of Red Dead Redemption 2, must monitor his health, stamina and the Dead Eye to function at full capacity. If you do not play sports you will gain weight, so stamina consumption will also be faster. In this process, the passage of time is important, so Jimmyoneshot decided to do some tests with the framerate.
The first step was to create two save points at the beginning of chapter 2: the first, running at 30 fps; the second, at 100-130. He then played a full day (of the game), completed the same mission, all while his character ate four steaks at the same time of day in both cases. While with the lowest framerate he gained 1.5 kg, when setting the game to 100 fps he lost 0.75 kg, a situation clearly anomalous.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, for now only in the official launcher and in the Epic Games Store. In December it will be on Steam.
