The director had been kept secret, but he is a veteran Capcom developer who worked at Capcom and Platinum Games.
With just over a month left for the premiere of Resident Evil 3 Remake, Capcom had not yet revealed who is responsible for the project. However, the secrecy phase has culminated, as the media, including FreeGameTips, have already been able to test the video game in depth. In addition, in an interview with Dengeki Online, the company has confirmed who is the director of the video game. This is Kiyohiko Sakata, a former Capcom employee who has also worked at PlatinumGames.
The developer worked as a programmer in the first four games of the saga, although he assumed a position of responsibility in Resident Evil 4, a project in which he led the team of programmers. This does not mean that Sakata has returned to Capcom, since he owns his own studio, Red Works. Even so, he wanted to return to the classic survival horror saga to take charge of the project.
In December, VGC published information that outlined the identity of the studio responsible for the video game, nothing more and nothing less than a company owned by Capcom founded by Tatsuya Minami, until recently President of PlatinumGames. The company, M-Two (the name refers to Minami himself and Shinji Mikami, creator of Resident Evil) is located in Osaka and has experienced workers from both Capcom and PlatinumGames.
The game will feature a playable demo
It is not confirmed when it will occur, but Capcom prepares a free and public demo, as recently announced on social networks. According to the Japanese, they will provide more information about it in the near future, so the date and its contents are unknown. This installment, which will reimagine the classic, will also include an asymmetric multiplayer mode that will replace the traditional mercenary mode. Resident Evil Resistance is not a canon and does not connect with the story of the third installment, although it will have narrative elements.
Resident Evil 3 Remake will launch on April 3 on PS4, Xbox One and PC, almost a year after the release of the revamped version of the second installment.
