Riot Games announced that 2XKO’s active development will conclude in December 2026.
Refunds and Champion Unlocks
Players who spent any amount on 2XKO before August 20 will receive a refund while retaining all purchased cosmetics. Riot will then unlock every champion for all users and progressively remove all monetized features before the final development wrap‑up.
Monetization Removal and Game State
The studio is scheduled to eliminate ranked play, Battle Passes, seasonal events, KO Points, and Champion Tokens. Ranked matches will remain available until active development ends, after which servers will stay online to support casual and tournament play.
Final Content and Patch Roadmap
Two new characters arrive before the project’s cutoff: Lux in Patch 1.3.1 drops in September, followed by Samira in October. A residual bug‑fix patch will be released in December, completing the active development cycle.
Competitive Continuity into 2026
Riot will keep the competitive scene running through 2026, offering prize money for both Major and Challenger events. The platform will maintain infrastructure for organized play while transitioning toward a permanent online state.
Commitment to the Community
According to the announcement, the focus now is to “do right by the players” who have supported 2XKO. Lobby creation and matchmaking will remain possible, and the community will have a stable environment to finish the game they’ve loved.
