Sony may continue to be interested in bringing back the SOCOM series, as it believes that recent rumors have been directed to Guerilla Games.
At least that's what the otherwise well-informed insider Tidux on Twitter claims, after which there are internal discussions to get the SOCOM series out of the mothballs. The multiplayer shooter is supposed to appear on a second team of Horizon developers and probably for PS5.

Rumors of the return of SOCOM have been going on for quite a while, but after never really gotten out of it, there was ambition to become an unofficial successor called H-Hour, which was tackled by the original developers. Recently, SOCOM 4 U.S. Navy SEALs in 2011 for PS3, while the studio around, Zipper Interactive, no longer exists.
Whether the rumors about a new SOCOM come true, of course, remains to be seen for now. Guerrilla Games, however, would be a suitable developer for it, previously known primarily for the Killzone franchise.
