Shenmue III celebrates its release with a retrospective documentary

The title of Ys Net and Deep Silver comes to stores and does so celebrating what seemed impossible to many only a few years ago.

It is time to stop talking about Shenmue III in the future and do it in the present. The expected return of one of the most famous SEGA sagas is already a reality and it does so under the development of a Ys Net that has had the support of Deep Silver. The latter have now published an emotional retrospective video that not only revolves around the work done with this third part, but with the figure of the author, Yu Suzuki.

Suzuki, one of the most transcendent figures in the video game industry in Japan, has not considered a problem that several decades have passed since the second part so far. Many are now parents, others directly did not think that this title would ever see the light, but it has.

From the video it is understood that Shenmue III is what it had to be more than ten years ago; no more no less. The technological update also carries with it some ideas, mechanics and purposes of the past, a double-edged sword that many will penalize and that others will value.

The video travels to more rural China, the one that drinks the folklore of the title and where Ryo Hazuki, the eternal protagonist, assumes his role and continues in the search for his path.

In total, seven minutes of reflection, in retrospect, where personalities such as Peter Moore or Yu himself take stock of a slow but macerated work so that, in essence, Shenmue III was what it had to be.

This past August, FreeGameTips had the opportunity to interview Yu Suzuki in a meeting where he talked not only about Shenmue III but about his figure, his concerns and his assessment of the video game industry today, when everything has changed so much regarding the decades where he had more activity as a creator; in the eighties and nineties.

Shenmue III is now available on PlayStation 4 and PC. And no, this third episode is not the end of the saga.
