Skate 4 will be developed by Full Circle, a new EA studio located in Canada

The new developer will feature some of the veteran creatives who worked on the original games.

Wishes sometimes end up coming true. The Skate series has been lying fallow for years, but Electronic Arts has not shelved the license. After many requests from fans, the North American company announced by surprise the development of Skate 4. It did so during EA Play in June 2020, the streaming event in which every year they announce the company’s news. What was not known was the team behind the project, until now. EA has set up Full Circle, a new studio that will be in charge of bringing production to fruition.

Full Circle is located in Vancouver, the same location that Respawn Entertainment and EA Sports’ main studios develop. Also in Canada, although in another city, BioWare operates. Daniel McCulloch, former head of Xbox Live, has been chosen to oversee the team as general manager. “The fans wanted Skate to come back to life and we wanted them to feel part of the process from development to release of the game and beyond,” says McCulloch. “We want them to feel like they are part of Full Circle.”

The two original creators return

The Canadian studio is tracking the market to bring new talent to the team. “Our goal is to have fun and create great games that people want to play with their friends. We are looking for more developers to help us build solid worlds for players to explore. ” EA has surrounded itself with veterans and enlisted the original creators of the Skate saga, so Deran Chung and Cuz Parry will reprise their role as lead designers. “We are very happy to return to work at Skate,” they said in a statement. “Some will say that things have come full circle.”

With the circle closed, it only remains to wait for the development to be completed, although everything seems to indicate that there is still a long way to go.
