Sonic Mania Green Hill Zone announced, a set of LEGO pieces inspired by SEGA's hedgehog

It is a collaboration between the Japanese company and LEGO IDEAS, which has taken the winning design from a contest.

SEGA and LEGO IDEAS have announced that Sonic will also become one of the figures of the toy company. It will do so through Sonic Mania Green Hill Zone, a concept designed by 24-year-old British Vic Grannell. This young man is a fan of both LEGO and the blue hedgehog, so he was encouraged to present his idea to receive the necessary support from the community. The prize for the winner is making the concept come true.

In a press release, SEGA explained that the design is inspired by Sonic Mania, the retro-flavored title published in 2017. In addition to Sonic, he will be accompanied by other characters from the saga, who will be recreated in Green Hill Zone, one of the characteristic levels. The design garnered the 10,000 votes needed to get the LEGO Group production team to work.

“I have felt part of the world of Sonic for most of my life and it fits so perfectly with the LEGO system that I have spent an entire year gathering the necessary support to make it happen. Getting 10,000 people to support my idea has been overwhelming, even with the support of my friends and family, but getting it selected for development has been, hands down, the most exciting secret I’ve ever had to keep! never! ”declared Grannell.

They want to inspire followers to create

According to the company, the design for Sonic Mania Green Hill Zone will enter development through a collaboration between LEGO IDEAS and SEGA. Jason Rice, director of brand licensing for the Japanese company’s division in Europe, has stated that they have always urged their fans “to be part of the legacy of the Sonic saga” through their own creations. “We are delighted to be collaborating with Viv and the LEGO Group and hope to inspire all of our fans to continue creating their own experiences around Sonic the Hedgehog for future generations.”

Sonic the Hedgehog turns 30 in June, so 2021 is one of the important years for the blue hedgehog. Announcements related to new games are expected.
