An audio bar prepared for the new generation of consoles

Sonos launches its new Arc audio bar, which is already integrated by Dolby Atmos to have a better gaming experience and encoded content.

In a talk we had with Ximena Díaz Covarrubias, the brand's Latin American marketing leader, we were presented with all the details of this new device.

Sonos Arc Specifications

  • Alexa or Google Assistant

  • Airplay 2
  • 2 inputs: Digital optical and HDMI (Arc)
  • Stereo, Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Atmos encoding
  • 8 elliptical woofers and 3 tweeters
  • Control over the new S2 platform

The design and placement of speakers seek to throw the audio in such a way that they can create an enveloping sensation, however, a phased array software comes that detects the effects to adapt them in such a way that it flows naturally taking advantage of all the speakers, something different from other systems.

Calibration process

Arc was designed to Sonos' own standards, and audio engineers like Chris Jenkins (Mad Max) were brought together to refine the adaptation of surround sounds.

Unlike the Sonos Playbar, this bar is more elongated giving a more elegant feel and the polycarbonate shell has more than 76,000 perforations in one piece with an angle of 270 °. This gadget will replace the Playbar and Playbase. Within the linear only Beam and Arc will remain.

Arc will arrive in June and will be available in white or black. Hand in hand with this launch will also come the Sonos Sub update that now has a wider Wi-Fi radio, as well as greater processing power and a few small legs on the bottom. Sonos Play: 5 is also updated from a more aesthetic point and with some internal components to improve its performance. These speakers will arrive from the hand of Arc also in June.
