Sony studies possible delays over COVID-19; commitment to the industry
The current situation of Sony summons us to the statement issued this past March by the Japanese company itself. In a note published by the parent company, Sony claimed to be "carefully monitoring the risk of delays" for both first party and third party video games. Only a few days later The Last of Us Part II was known to be delayed indefinitely; in this way, it will not be released on May 29 on PlayStation 4 but on another date that, according to its creative director, Neil Druckmann, will be as soon as they can. Ghost of Tsushima, the other big release of the semester on Sony's home console, is still planned for June 26.
On the other hand, Sony PlayStation has presented the Play at Home initiative, which has two aspects: on the one hand, gifting players or Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection as Journey completely free until next May 6 on PS4; on the other, an investment fund of 10 million dollars for independent video game studios that may have been affected by the coronavirus crisis at an economic level.
