The ongoing corona virus pandemic is now forcing Sony to take a closer look at its upcoming plans. Investors are therefore already attuned to possible shifts in upcoming games and other products.

Today's investor conference says that you focus on ensuring the safety of your employees and their families, as well as customers and other stakeholders. With regard to the PlayStation business, one adds that so far there have been no major problems, but there may be short-term shifts, both in the first-party and third-party productions. However, no explicit titles have been mentioned in this context.

PS5 launch could be restricted

Especially for the PlayStation 5, there is still a launch for Christmas, but there is a possibility that it will be restricted. This may mean serving the major markets like North America, Europe, and parts of Asia first, and less important markets thereafter.

Since February 10, 2020, production at its own locations in Shanghai, Wuxi, Jiangsu, Huizhou, Guangdong has been gradually resumed, which had previously been suspended for 16 days. The same applies to the location in Wales. However, it cannot be ruled out that there will still be interruptions at suppliers.

"The problems in the supply chain remain, but the processes are returning to the level they were before the virus spread."

So most of the processes are currently on track and there are no dramatic upheavals in sight for 2020. More will be announced in due course.
