Yosuke Saito, a member of Square Enix, says that both the NieR franchise and its relationship with Platinum Games are far from over.
Apparently, the NieR franchise still has a lot to say, and it is that at the premiere of a new website to celebrate its tenth anniversary, the words of Yosuke Saito, designer of Square Enix are now joined. Saito is one of the creative Japanese with whom Famitsu magazine has spoken, and in which he has also talked about the great publisher's relationship with Platinum Games.
The two pillars of SE in Japan
There are two licenses that will focus the Square Enix strategy in Japan throughout 2020, and they are only Babylon's Fall, precisely in charge of Platinum Games, and NieR. The first could glimpse again in Sony's latest State of Play, after a long period of silence, and had the unmistakable Platinum seal. During this next year that is about to start, the company will give it the importance it deserves with a marketing campaign at the height.
And of course NieR, who turns 10 and whose trademark was registered by Square Enix just a few weeks ago. "Several things and titles not yet announced are underway to celebrate the tenth anniversary of NieR," Saito said in that multiple interview. Of course, implicitly asks for patience as these will be announced "when the time is appropriate."
The franchise had a strong momentum thanks to Platinum Games. While the original NieR appeared only on PlayStation 3, being considered a cult game, the hand of the Japanese studio noticed for good in NieR Automata. This second installment was very pleasantly received by both critics and the public, appearing first on PlayStation 4 and later on PC and Xbox One in its Become as Gods edition.
