Square Enix registers the Chocobo GP brand also in Europe

The Japanese company has not announced any new title, beyond the two mobile-based video games set in the universe of the seventh installment.

The last time the river sounded, the waters brought the announcement of two titles for mobile devices. Gematsu reported that Square Enix had recorded Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis and Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, which in the end have ended up materializing in video games. Now, the same media has confirmed that the Chocobo GP brand has been registered in territories such as Europe, Australia and Canada. While in these last two places it was done on February 26, in the Old Continent it happened on March 1.

Some time ago, in December 2020, Square Enix did the same in the United States and Japan. While Chocobo GP was registered in North America, the Chocobo Grand Prix title was chosen in their homeland. Of course, just because a company registers a trademark does not automatically mean that a new project will be announced.

The chocobos were already protagonists

At the moment there is no more information about it. In the past, some titles were developed featuring these iconic creatures from the Final Fantasy universe. Thus, Chocobo Racing was a racing game that was released in 1999 for the veteran PlayStation. There was a resurrection attempt that was cut short on Nintendo 3DS. Chocobo Racing 3D was announced at E3 2010 and was canceled a few years later.

Square Enix has several projects underway. In addition to Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy XVI, the Japanese developer is working on the second part of Final Fantasy VII Remake. Before it makes an appearance, players will be able to enjoy an expansion DLC starring Yuffie. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will not only introduce these new story chapters, which will run parallel to the main storyline, but also a graphical and performance update for PS5. Players who have the game on their previous generation console will be able to update for free.
