Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi will feature the actress from Ellaria (Game of Thrones)

Deadline exclusively confirms that interpreter Indira Varna has joined the cast, although details about her role are unknown.

Indira Varna will be part of the cast of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. So says Deadline, who has published the news exclusively. The actress, known for her roles in Game of Thrones, Rome, Carnival Row or For Life, will take on the role of a still unknown character, just like the plot of the new Disney + series. In addition to Ewan McGregor, who will once again become Jedi Master Kenobi, Hayden Christensen will be introduced into the armor (or robes) of Darth Vader, the great Star Wars villain.

The series takes place 10 years after the events narrated in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. These are the first years of the Galactic Empire, after the hitherto Supreme Chancellor Palpatine struck the table and put into motion a plan that had been brewing for years. After blaming the Jedi for an assassination attempt, the Sith issues Order 66 to annihilate the entire order.

There is already a date for filming

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series is a limited series, so there will only be one season. As confirmed by Ewan McGregor himself, filming already has a start date. Despite the problems derived from the coronavirus and the rewriting of the scripts, the fiction already has a green light and will begin filming in late spring in Los Angeles. After the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, the creative team will use the same technology, so that they will not have to record exclusively with chromas digitally.

Lucasfilm and Disney have presented an ambitious plan that includes the premiere of new Star Wars films, but also an endless number of series for their platform. The Mandalorian has already confirmed its third season, but it will have several spin-offs (Rangers of the New Republic, Ahsoka and The Book of Boba Fett). Star Wars: The Bad Batch, the new animated series, will air from May 4.
