Star Wars: Squadrons should be played with PlayStation VR, EA recommends

Playfront

With Star Wars: Squadrons, EA and Motive Studios have announced a brand new Star Wars experience this week, which also supports various VR headsets. These are also recommended by EA, as can now be read on the support page.

In it, EA points out once again that the cockpit view will give you an experience that has never been possible before. There was already a foretaste of this in the VR part of Star Wars: Battlefront II, just now as a complete game in Star Wars: Squadrons.

We can only hope that the PlayStation VR version will also be optimized well, because as VR games like Ace Combat 7 have shown, a lot of work is still required in this area.

In Star Wars: Squadrons, players become starfighter pilots and climb into iconic starfighter cockpits of the New Republic fleets as well as those of the empire. They plan battles with their squadron in the meeting room before taking off for space battles across the galaxy. Players compete against each other in strategic 5v5 battles, trying to destroy the opposing flagship in naval battles.

They experience the tension of multiplayer battles from a first-person perspective as they work with their squadron to take out as many opponents as possible in space confrontations. Pilots will triumph as a team, tailor their squad to suit their style of play, and complete objectives in both familiar and never-before-seen locations – including the gas giant Yavin Prime and the shattered moon of Galitan.

Star Wars: Squadrons will be released on October 2nd, 2020.
